How to make your time with braces or Invisalign aligners easy and stress-free.

Here are a few helpful tips we’d love to share:

  • Oral Hygiene
    • Our knowledgeable staff will give you detailed instructions on caring for your teeth in braces on the day you get them and will continue to monitor your hygiene at each visit.
    • Check your teeth every time you brush and don’t leave any debris along your gum line or along the bracket edge.  Prolonged exposure to this debris, not the braces themselves cause white spots on your teeth!

  • Emergencies
    • You may be able to solve many problems temporarily by yourself until you can visit our office for a repair.
      • Loose band/bracket: If the band or bracket is still attached to the wire-leave it in place, unless otherwise instructed to do so.  If uncomfortable, place wax on it.
      • Poking wire: Try to push the sticking wire down with a pencil eraser or fingernail.  If not possible, use your wax.
      • Lost colored cheerio or wire around bracket: Notify us at your next appointment.
      • Soreness: Rinse with salt water/rincinol and take 1-2 Ibuprofen/Aleve every 4-6 hours.
    • Please call the office as soon as you can to schedule a repair appointment!
